Statesboro police said Monday that a murder suspect wounded his estranged wife and fatally stabbed the man with whom she was in a relationship.

Police responded to 3 Hart Lane at 9:29 a.m. Saturday after Bulloch Central 911 dispatch received a call that a stabbing had just taken place, according to a Statesboro police incident report.

Advanced Patrol Officer William Dietz and Cpl. Dena Colson found Dennis Randolph Weaver, 42, of Paradise Road in Twin City, in the home and arrested him on charges of murder and aggravated assault, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said Monday afternoon in a news release.

Police said they also found two victims with stab wounds: Marion Lamonte Wiggs, 40, of Decatur, Ga., and Weaver's wife, Lashika C. Weaver, 38, of the Hart Lane residence. Wiggs and Lashika Weaver were taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said Saturday that Wiggs was pronounced dead at 10:02 a.m. in the hospital.

Lashika Weaver was later transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where she was still listed in critical condition Monday, police said.

Turner said Dennis and Lashika Weaver are married, but separated. Dennis Weaver was living in Twin City when the incident occurred, police said.

Turner added that Wiggs was in a relationship with Lashika Weaver. Both were at the Hart Lane residence with four children — a 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and two 9-year-old boys — when Dennis Weaver entered the home and stabbed Wiggs several times in the upper torso, Turner said, adding that Lashika Weaver also was stabbed multiple times in a similar fashion.

The children, who were under Lashika Weaver's care, suffered minor cuts during the incident and were treated and released by EMS on the scene, Turner said.

Cpl. Justin Samples, the police department's public information officer, said Monday he could not verify whether the children were in the custody of a family member or the Department of Family and Children Services.

Dennis Weaver is being held in the Bulloch County Jail.
