Local Roundup: Jenkins County stuns Calvary Day

    MILLEN — The Jenkins County War Eagles handed Calvary Day its first region loss, winning 56-51 on Tuesday at home.
    Jenkins (6-11, 3-3 Region 3A-A)  was led by Willie and DeMarius Baldwin, who each scored 20 points for the Eagles.
    Derek Kirkland and Jordan Walker led Calvary offensively.
    Jenkins County will turn its focus on Portal when it hosts the Panthers on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Panthers win big at SCD
    SAVANNAH — The Portal Panthers logged another dominant performance, beating Savannah Country Day 63-33 on Tuesday in Savannah.
    Portal (15-3, 5-1) was led in scoring by Trent Thomas (20 points). Stacey Morgan added 15 points and Harrison Sherrod finished with 10.

Lady Gators dominant on road
    MACON — The Bulloch Academy Lady Gators had no problems on the road on Tuesday, dominating Mt. de Sales 63-21 in Macon.
    The Gators (20-1, 2-0 Region 2I-AAA) were led by Pate Lomax, who scored 21 points. Ashley Burke added 15 points and Page Spence added 9.
    Bulloch is back on action on Thursday at Augusta Prep.

Lady Tigers hold off Raiders
    SAVANNAH — Claxton's Keri Brown went to the free throw line with 0.8 seconds on the clock and sank both shots as the Lady Tigers escaped Savannah Christian with a 39-37 win on the road on Tuesday.
    Brown scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while, Jazmine Price led Claxton in scoring with 13 points.
    The Tigers (16-3, 5-1 Region 3A-A) visit Savannah Counry Day on Friday.

Portal falls at Country Day
    SAVANNAH — Savannah Country Day defeated the Portal Lady Panthers 41-29 on Tuesday.
    Breyonna Raymond led Portal with 23 points.

Claxton knocks off SCPS
    SAVANNAH — The Claxton Tigers (8-9, 3-3 Region 3A-A) beat Savannah Christian on the road on Tuesday, winning 51-44.
    Cornelious Taylor led Claxton with 15 points, and Darvis Small added 13.
    The Tigers visit Savannah Country Day on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
