Police Report 1-7-14 - An argument between two women over jokes became physical.

STATESBORO POLICE
➤  Arrests
▲ Priscilla Altman Gribble, 42, Hwy. 292, Reidsville — theft by shoplifting.
▲ Angie Lynn Presson, 30, South College Street — theft by taking.
▲ Isabel Hagin Fowler, 22, South College Street — driving on the wrong side of the road, DUI, failure to obey traffic device.
▲ Gloria Jean Parrish, 47, Bobby Donaldson Avenue — suspended license, no proof of insurance.

➤  Incidents
▲ DEBBIE DRIVE — A man checked on someone else’s house he knew was unattended and found there were attempts at burglary. Boxes of items, including TVs, were found outside.
▲ PROCTOR STREET — A woman reported receiving harassing phone calls.
▲ HUMMIMGBIRD CIRCLE — A man hid a woman’s belongings because he did not want her to leave. The altercation was physical.
▲ THE AVENUE AT SOUTHERN — A TV was reported stolen.
▲ COLLEGE WALK APARTMENTS — A man reported the theft of red folding camp-style chairs from his porch.
▲ BELK — A former employee was fired after evidence showed she stole $350 and $125 worth of clothes over a period of time.
▲ PARK PLACE APARTMENTS — A washer and dryer were stolen.
▲ THE AVENUE AT SOUTHERN — An argument between two women over jokes became physical.
▲ VANDY’S — A witness saw a woman approach and curse a man, who told police the woman hit him.
▲ GOODWILL CENTER — A woman was arrested for taking purses, shoes, toys and more from a delivery truck.
 
BULLOCH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Arrests
▲ Taziha Lavera Burnette, 22, Battle Creek Village Drive, Jonesboro — helping or permitting a person to escape, crossing guard lines with contraband, first-degree criminal damage to property, possession of tools for committing a crime, interference with government property.
▲ Jimtavous Javon Walker, 30, Southwest 196th Street, Miami — speeding, failure to maintain lane, DUI (refused test).
▲ Michael Richard Griffin, 26, Pleasant Hill Church Road, Ellabell — second-degree cruelty to children, flee/attempt to elude, failure to signal lane change, speeding, obstruction, reckless driving, suspended license.

➤  Incidents
▲ POPE ROAD — (Ellabell) A man reported metal theft by someone he knows.
▲ TEE PEE WAY — (Statesboro) A man said his wife’s uncle harassed them by phone over a civil matter.
▲ WINDING WAY — (Statesboro) A boat and homemade trailer were stolen.

➤  Arrests
▲ Troopers investigated eight crashes with nine reported injuries, stopped 41 vehicles and issued a total of 17 citations, including 12 for speeding, Friday through Sunday.
▲ Troopers also issued a total of 49 warnings, including eight for seat belt and 21 for speeding; patrolled 1,645 miles; and assisted one motorist.

GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY POLICE
➤  Arrests
▲ Officers issued five traffic citations Friday through Sunday.
▲ Patrick James Chambers, 17, Cobb Road — headlights required and DUI.
▲ Tushun Dontrez Newton, 31, East Jones Avenue — failure to maintain lane, no proof of insurance, possession of a drug-related object and DUI (refused test).
▲ Johnny Lee Atkins, 49, Lanier Drive — failure to obey a traffic control device and DUI.
▲ Mendy Coleania Hines, 29, College Street — failure to yield at a crosswalk and DUI.

➤ Incidents
▲ Officers issued 10 traffic warnings and assisted    nine motorists Friday through Sunday.
▲ SOUTHERN PINES — Officers responded to the clubhouse in reference to a fire alarm activated by smoke generated from a broken air-conditioner belt.
▲ SPORTS COMPLEX — An incident report was taken for damage to property at the Sports Complex/Softball Fields.
