Local Roundup: Bulloch girls stay perfect


    LYONS — The Bulloch Academy Lady Gators improved to 9-0 on the season with a dominating 62-25 win over First Presbyterian on Friday at the Coaches verses Cancer tournament at Robert Toombs Christian Academy.
    The Gators were led by Pate Lomax, who finished with 14 points.
    Chelsea Oglesby added 9 for BA, and Danielle Atkinson finished with 8.
    The Gators return to action at 10:30 a.m., today against Terrell Academy.

Claxton Tigers top Johnson County
    WRIGHTSVILLE — The Claxton Tigers had no problems with Johnson County on the road Friday, winning 62-44.
    Cornelious Taylor dominated the game offensively, for Claxton (2-3) scoring a game-high 28 points. Darius Small added 9.
    Johnson County was led by Ronquez Harden, who finished with 9.
    The Tigers return home to host Emanuel county Institute in a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m.

Lady Tigers win
    WRIGHTSVILLE — The Claxton Lady Tigers improved to 5-2 with a 58-38 win over Johnson County Friday on the road.
    The Tigers allowed only 13 first-half points.
    Keri Brown and Taylor Fiveash each scored 12 points for Claxton in the win.

Ryan Klesko to headline GSU event
    Ryan Klesko will headline the annual Evening with the All-Stars banquet on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on the campus of Georgia Southern University.
    Klesko is a former major league baseball first baseman and corner outfielder for the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. Klesko was a part of three World Series with the Braves and was a part of the 1995 World Series Championship. He finished third in the Rookie of the Year Balloting in 1994 and was an All-Star in 2001. Klesko hit at least 21 home runs in eight of his 13 seasons and hit 30 or more homers in two seasons.
    Tickets for the banquet are $75 for adults and $50 for children 17 and under (includes autographed baseball). For large groups, companies or those wanting the ultimate banquet experience corporate tables are available for $800. A corporate table seats eight and includes two passes to a pre-dinner meet and greet, two autographed baseballs and an autographed bat.
    The silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 7:30 p.m.
