Free shuttle available from Kmart lot

Statesboro High opens its home football schedule tonight when the Blue Devils play Glynn Academy at Womack Field. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. and parking will be a little different for the thousands of fans expected to attend.
With construction of the new high school taking over the parking area in front of the school, the Lester Road side of the school is closed to all parking and even pedestrian traffic. The Fleming Road side of the stadium will be open for parking tonight as well as the other four home games this season. There are approximately 400 parking spaces on the Fleming Drive side of the stadium, which will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Also, the school system has made arrangements that will allow fans to park in the Kmart shopping center lot and take a free shuttle to the front gate of Womack Stadium. Shuttles to the stadium begin running at 6 p.m. tonight and end at game time – 7:30 p.m. Shuttles back to the Kmart lot start at 9 p.m. and run until the last fan is returned to his or her vehicle. The shuttle service is located in the back of Kmart's garden center parking lot.
Tickets for the game – $6 –  also will be available for purchase in the Kmart lot, so fans won't need to stand in line at the stadium.
"We want all people who attend the game to have a fun experience," said Charles Wilson, assistant superintendent for Bulloch County schools. "We know parking is a little different as we build the new school, but we hope fans will take advantage of the free shuttle all season. I think they'll be happily surprised at how convenient it is."
