To celebrate the holiday season, here are a few photos from selected recent events in Statesboro and Brooklet.
The First Friday event Dec. 6 was the biggest of them all, with four components, headlined by the Holiday Celebration. Santa Claus came to town in the golf cart parade. The tree on the courthouse lawn was lit. People had their pictures taken with Santa, and they ate — and judged — during the annual Chili Town cook-off.
Just two days earlier, Brooklet residents went to that town's downtown and celebrated the annual tree-lighting.
On Dec. 7, the Center for Wildlife Education at Georgia Southern University celebrated the holidays its own way, with a selection of exotic animals from Staples Safari Zoo. There were baboons, monkeys, and a white tiger — oh, my — among others.
These aren't meant to encompass all of the holiday-themed events going on in Bulloch County, but a sampling, just to get you in the right spirit.
