Two people were arrested Thursday in connection with a recent armed robbery and kidnapping, and six others in the same apartment were charged with drug-related offenses, police said.

The original incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 23, when two men — one with a gun — approached a victim at Plantation Villas, forced him into his own truck and made him drive to an ATM, police said at the time.

When the suspects were not able to get money that way, they made the victim drive to his own apartment at Freedom's Landing. One tried to enter the victim's apartment while the other remained with the victim, who managed to flee, police said.

Surveillance images of one of the suspects were released to the news media.

Through further investigation, Statesboro police Detective Tommy Brown identified the robbery suspects as Dexter Leonard Dunbar III, 21, of Bermuda Run, and Alvin Douglas Horn, 20, of Martinez, Ga., Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a news release issued Friday.

Georgia Southern University Police assisted in the investigation.

Brown located Dunbar and Horn at University Village Apartments, Turner said.

On Thursday, Cpl. Jake Saxon and Officers Jared Shababy, Travis Kreun and Travis Smallegan made contact with the suspects at University Village, where arrest warrants were executed without incident, Turner said.

The officers, with assistance from the police department's Crime Suppression Unit, then obtained and executed a search warrant for the University Village apartment where the suspects were located. Officers found marijuana, and six other people in the apartment were arrested on drug charges, Turner said.

Those arrested, and their charges, are as follows:

— Horn; armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and giving false information
— Dunbar; armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce
— Nasha Lashonda Denson, 18, of Bermuda Run; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (felony) and possession of drug-related objects;
— Nigil Danzel Campfield, 20, of Sylvania; possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce
— Jaylen Evans, 19, of Swallowtail Drive, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce
— Jasmine Hunter Gilliard, 22, of Belle Chase, La.; possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce
— Ashley Anterica Hunter, 24, of Sylvania; possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce
— Darryl Williams, 27, of Gentilly Drive; possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, giving false information and wanted person (probation violation, Fulton County).
