Healy-Krause

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nevin Krause

Laura Elizabeth Healy of Richmond, Va., and Thomas Nevin Krause of Charlottesville, Va., were united in marriage on September 14, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Lue Healy of Statesboro, Ga. She is the granddaughter of the late Polly and William H. Smith Jr. of Statesboro and the late Joe and Cecilia Healy of Cascade, Iowa.
The groom is the son of Thomas and Mickie Krause of West Grove, Pa. He is the grandson of the late Rev. Walter and Mrs. (Norma) Krause of Johnstown, Pa., and the late Franc Merz of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., and the late Angela Munroe of Manteca, Calif.
The Rev. Andrew Field officiated at the ceremony and Lisa Norfrey, friend of the bride, provided piano music. Brandy Yowell of Charlottesville and Stephanie Sterrett of Wilmington, N.C., greeted guests. Readers of Biblical passages were Mary Lucy Smith Lester of Atlanta, Ga., and Susan Anne Smith MacKenna of Decatur, Ga., both cousins of the bride.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Laura wore a strapless ivory lace gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice and a skirt that flared into a circular sweeping scalloped lace hemline that trailed into a chapel train. The waist was cinched with a sash of champagne satin. Her all-white bridal bouquet featured roses and hydrangeas accented by green hypericum berries. The bouquet included a sheer ribbon that was hand-appliqued with lace medallions from her mother’s wedding gown.
Katrina Jones Rogers of Chapel Hill, N.C., served as matron of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Leigh Hughes Healy of New Bern, N.C., and Sara Johnston Healy of Columbus, Ohio, both sisters-in-law of the bride; and Amanda Krause of Providence, R.I., sister of the groom. The bridal attendants wore knee-length, scoop-necked, sleeveless sapphire-blue gowns of dupioni silk.
Eric Rembold of Charleston, S.C., served as best man. Groomsmen included Josh Titter of West Grove, Pa.; Nathan Krause of Mechanicsburg, Pa., brother of the groom; Joe Healy of New Bern, N.C., and Will Healy of Columbus, Ohio, both brothers of the bride. Ushers were Benjamin Fey, Timothy Jenson and Dave McWhorter, all of Charlottesville.
Ben Healy, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. Stephen Healy, nephew of the bride, carried his great-grandmother Polly Smith’s Bible with a cover created from the lace and satin from Laura’s mother’s wedding gown.
A reception was held following the wedding at Greencroft Club and featured a blue grass trio.
The sanctuary floral arrangements, bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and reception flowers were created by family and friends of the bride: Annette Smith, Sue Avra, Sheron Bolen, Jean Burnett, Jane Cason, Janice McNeely, Genelda Reese, Marsha Ritchie, Sue Smith and Carol Vincel. Annette Smith, aunt of the bride, fashioned the floral decorations for the wedding cake and for the Virginia Tech groom’s cake.
The couple honeymooned in Maine. They are making their home in Charlottesville.
