Bubbles in the Boro 5K set for Oct. 19

A local business, 180 Fitness will present “Bubbles in the Boro,” its first 5K fundraiser race, on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Georgia Southern University’s Recreation Activity Center Pavilion.

The race will showcase thousands of bubbles along the race track and throughout the event. All proceeds from this year’s race will benefit Alma Freeman, a Bulloch County wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who is battling cancer.

In addition to the 5K, there will be activities for the whole family including bouncy houses, giant bubble stations, “Lemonade with Anna Hayes”, games, food, local vendors, Cancer awareness information, and much more!

“We are grateful for the generosity of our many sponsors and the hundreds of participants who will come out to run in the race,” said Mindy Fair, the sponsorship chairwoman. “We are excited to raise funds for Alma and her family during her courageous battle.”

This year’s event kicks off at 8 a.m. with a Kids “Foamy Fun Run” followed by the 5K road race at 8:30 a.m. Entry into the race includes a race bag filled with goodies, bubbles, and a race T-shirt.

“180 Fitness is dedicated to giving back to our community. While organizing this race and raising funds for Alma, we continue to be amazed at the support of our employees, friends, families, sponsors and volunteers can achieve,” said Angie Hitchens, a co-owner of 180 Fitness.

Registration forms can be found online at www.bubblesintheboro.com, 180 Fitness, Swim.Bike.Run or AgSouth Farm Credit.

The early bird entry fee is $25 for registrations received today. The “Foamy Fun Run” fee is $10. After today, registration is $30. Late-entry shirts and race goodies will be available as supplies last. Participants will have an opportunity to make additional donations at the event.
