"Just wanted to say thanks to GSU for the fireworks at 9 o'clock at night on Friday evening. You might want to consider whoever's planning this that people have children that live in this neighborhood. You might want to think about that next time. Not such a bright idea."
"I don't know why some people feel so secure with our Homeland Security. We have an invasion … if we had an invasion, we wouldn't have a chance of a snowball in hell. All our trained military are tryin' to keep peace in some other country."
"Bush's coming to Statesboro is certainly a historical event, but the Burns' camp is deluded to think that this event will bring more votes for its candidate. In fact, the opposite result will take place. And it must be said that GSU cannot legally host this event since it is only a one-sided political event."
"Would you please print this? I tried to get it in about two weeks ago. Could the patrol people come out and please patrol … Mill Creek Road between Clito and Five Chop, this lil' short piece of … dirt? People are out ridin' their four-wheelers at 8 and 9 o'clock at night. Just zoomin' up and down these roads. Someone is going to get hurt or somebody comin' out of a driveway's not gon' see 'em. They don't have lights on. No kind of gear or anything. Could somebody please patrol this? It's really bad on the weekend."
"Soundoff, thank you for the tip in Sunday's paper. Jake Hallman most certainly will have my write-in vote come November. Thanks a million."
"To the woman driving solo in the SUV turning on Northside Drive on Friday during the rush hour, here's some suggestions you should seriously consider. Use your turn signal. Stop talking on your cell phone. Turn off your cell phone while driving. It just might save your life, not to mention the lives of the poor … motorists who have to ride around you in traffic or any future passengers in that big SUV of yours."
"Holli Deal Bragg, in her announcement of Bush coming, used the word … lame presidents. I'm concerned that she either did it in just, which is well-taken, or she needs to do a refresher course on the Constitution and these … document that established the framework of our government."
"This morning, Monday, our puppy got away from me and ran onto the Brooklet-Denmark Road. There was a pickup truck coming from both directions. They stopped and turned on their blinkers to stop any other traffic until I could get him off the road. Needless to say, he'll be on a leash when he goes out now. The next drivers may not be so caring. Thank you so very much."
"I would like to know how we go about creating a law to stop computerized phone solicitations by political candidates. It seems to me like that would be a violation of the Do Not Call Law. I'll work towards enacting it if someone will tell me where to begin. I feel like our political system caters to idiots and our politicians — all of them — are self-serving liars relying on the votes of these uninformed idiots."
"For years, Statesboro has been tryin' to catch up with Athens and Georgia Southern has tried to catch up with the University of Georgia. And now both of 'em have done it. Athens and Statesboro have more traffic and more crime they can control and the University of Georgia and Georgia Southern have a football team that can't win The Big One."
