Police: Woman takes bite of crime

A fight over a man ended up with one woman jailed and the other taken to the hospital for injuries including bite wounds, sheriff's official said.

Tammi Laure Henderson, 40, Mill Creek Lodge, was charged with aggravated assault after she attacked another woman, biting her and striking her with a beer bottle and another unknown "sharp object," said Bulloch County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Gene  McDaniel.

Deputy Nicholas Scripture met with the victim at East Georgia Regional Hospital's emergency room Wednesday, where she told him about being involved in a fight with Henderson.

McDaniel said the fight between the women was over a man.

The victim went to her male friend's house to talk to his mother just after midnight Wednesday morning when Henderson arrived, he said. Henderson and  the victim "argued out in the yard over who would be in a relationship with the man," he said. "One pulled the other one's hair, and a fight began."

Henderson bit the victim several times on her arms, he said. "Then the fight eased up, and (the victim) began walking home." Henderson followed, and "hit her with a beer bottle, then with a sharp object on her leg."

Another man, not the one over whom the women were fighting, took the victim to the hospital, he said. She suffered "three lacerations to the left side of her face, another laceration over her eyebrow, was bitten (at least) twice, had a cut on her left thigh and a scratch on the other."

Scripture investigated the incident and after identifying Henderson, located her at Mill Creek Lodge Apartments, McDaniel said. She was arrested on aggravated assault charges and taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where she remained Monday without bond, according to jail records.
