    Brentwood used a four-run third inning to take down Bulloch Academy 7-1 in region play on Thursday.
    Bulloch third baseman Ashley Burke (2-for-3) was the only Gator to hit safely, and BA plated its run in the bottom of the third when Page Spence drove in Danielle Atkinson.

SEB dominates Islands
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets evened their record in region play with an 8-0 drubbing of visiting Islands on Thursday.
    The Jackets (3-2, 1-1 Region 1-AAA were led by Enna Britt (3-for-4), who also plated a run, Dallas McClellan who drove in a pair of runs scored, and Storm Williams, who went 3-for-3, dorve in a run and scored.
    Blair Chapman pitched a complete-game shutout.
    Southeast Bulloch returns to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Beach beginning at 4:30 p.m.

SHS wins a pair of region games
    AUGUSTA — The Statesboro Lady Blue Devils volleyball team beat Hlenn Hills and Butler on Thursday in region action, without dropping a set.
    The Blue Devils beat Glenn HIlls 25-10 and 25-19, and knocked off Butler 25-7 and 25-12.
    Leading the night with six aces and one kill was senior middle Tierra Jackson. Also leading the way was setter Katie Wilson with five aces and five assists. Outside hitters Tess Newton and Allie Wallace had five aces each  to cap off the night.

GSU women face SU in home opener
    With two weeks spent on the road, Georgia Southern women’s soccer returns home this weekend against Stetson today at Eagle Field in the Erk Russell Athletic Park at 7 p.m.
    Last time out, Georgia Southern had High Point handled through halftime, but weather intervened to cancel the match. Jennifer Wittick scored what looked to be the winning goal, but lightning in the 47th minute ended the match with no make-up date set. The goal was erased and the Eagles enter the weekend at 0-3-0 on the campaign.
    Sydnie Van Curen leads the Eagles in scoring with one goal this year. She tallied that effort in the season opener at Indiana State.

tryouts set
    The back-to-back Southern Conference Champion Georgia Southern softball team is holding walk-on tryouts on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Tryouts are open to current Georgia Southern Students only.
    Students must bring a photocopy (front and back) of their insurance card and documented proof of a physical examination held within the past six months to the Georgia Southern Athletics Training Room before tryouts begin.
