A Statesboro teen was killed Friday and a Florida man was killed Sunday in two separate automobile accidents, said Georgia State Patrol Post 45 officials.

Nail Alshuaibi, 15, North Main Street, Statesboro, was killed Friday afternoon around 4:45 p.m. when a truck rear-ended the car in which he was riding. A 16-year-old juvenile and his teenage brother, friends of the victim, were also in the car and suffered visible injuries, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.

The teen driver was on Ga. 24, preparing to turn left onto Franklin Road, when his 1999 Mercury Cougar was struck in the rear by a 2007 Chevrolet C-1500 driven by Stephen Wilson, 31, Leefield Station Road, Brooklet, reports stated.

The teen's car, in which Alshuaibi was riding in the back seat, traveled 119 feet and struck a tree, reports stated.

Charges are pending against Wilson, who also suffered visible injuries. No charges have been filed against the juvenile driver of the Cougar, according to reports.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is still investigating a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident Sunday afternoon where a man ran off the road and struck an elderly man.

Trooper First-Class Marvin Welch said 67-year-old Howard Smith, of Cocoa, Fla.,was standing on the side of the road near a church on Main Street in Daisy in Evans County where he had been attending a family reunion  when Corey Hendrix, 28, Hwy. 250, Daisy, driving a 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier, ran off the roadway and struck him.

Smith died on the way to the hospital, he said.

Charges are pending against Hendrix in relation to the incident, and investigators are waiting on the results of a blood alcohol test as well, Welch said.
