Food deliverer robbed at gunpoint

A food deliveryman was robbed Tuesday night on Rountree Street.

Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said the man, a driver for #1 Chinese Restaurant, was "robbed at gunpoint by two unknown black males while making a delivery ... one of the males pointed a handgun at him and then struck him in the head with the firearm while demanding money and the food order."

The offenders took an undisclosed amount of currency and the food before fleeing the area on foot, he said.

The victim suffered superficial injuries from being struck in the head during the incident. The case is currently being investigated by the Statesboro Police Department's Investigations Bureau.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Statesboro police Detective Keith Holloway at (912) 764-9911.
