    Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez missed Friday's game at San Francisco and will not be present today, as he is in Statesboro for his daughter Gigi's graduation from Georgia Southern University, the official website of the Atlanta Braves reports.
    He flew to Savannah from San Francisco Friday morning and drove to Statesboro.
    "I got a text from (Gigi) the other day saying this degree is yours and mom's for helping me get through college," Gonzalez said on atlanta.braves.mlb.com. "I'm real excited to see her."
    Carlos Tosca took over  as manager for Friday's and Saturday's game.

GSU relay team vying for NCAAs
    The Georgia Southern 4x100-meter relay team races today at 1 p.m., at Georgia Tech, looking to improve its time and secure one of the 24 spots at the NCAA preliminaries later this month.
    The team of Jasmin Walker, Ebony Carter, Alyssa Felton and Amber Vaughn, is currently ranked among the top 24 of relay teams eligible for postseason, but all teams racing this weekend in the NCAA East Division are still vying for a chance to continue their seasons.
    The Eagles’ best current mark in the event, 45.44 came at the Samford Open at the end of April where they took first place at the meet and set the Samford facility record.
    Georgia Southern finished ahead of second-place Tennessee.

    The Kiwanis Club of Statesboro Cubs beat the Zaxby’s Padres 10-1.
    The 1st Franklin Financial Royals beat the Statesboro Floor Covering Tigers 15-7.
    The Thigpen, Lanier, Westerfield, and Deal Nationals beat the Anderson Surveyors Orioles 9-5.
    The Walker Total Tree Service Braves defeated the Digital Office Equipment Giants 3-1.
