Ever start your day with 300 meetings scheduled, 700 emails in your inbox, a kid to pick up from jujitsu and three soccer games to attend? You are not alone.
Join “The Water Coolers,” the award-winning music and comedy act, for an evening of song and sketch comedy at the Averitt Center for the Arts on Thursday.
Called “the sleeper hit of the season,” by E! Entertainment TV, “The Water Coolers” will offer Statesboro its unique blend of comedy, original songs and song parodies based on the foibles and experiences everyone talks about around the water cooler at work … or wishes they could.
From pretending you understand what the IT guy is saying (“The IT Cowboy”) to fending off aggressive sales-parents (“Who Will Buy This Crap For My Kid’s School”) to the inflated inner dialogue of the cute guy in the office (“Male Office Hottie”), “The Water Coolers” reveals the underpinnings of workplace life in hilarious and insightful songs and sketches performed by Broadway veterans.
“‘The Water Coolers’ take on work and life is needed now more than ever,” said Tim Chapman, the executive director of the Averitt Center. “The performances are top notch and their observations are on the money. -We’re excited about bringing them to Statesboro.”
Conceived by one of the creators of the long-running New York hit “Tony and Tina’s Wedding,” “The Water Coolers” employs original songs, musical parodies, and comic sketches to gently poke fun at the rituals and routines of the daily office grind.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $27 for adults and $10 for children younger than 12. As a special offer, office groups of five or more will receive $5 off each adult ticket; groups of 10 or more will receive $10 off each ticket, and groups of 15 or more will receive $15 off each adult ticket. Tickets must be purchased together through the box office to receive the discount. Tickets may be purchased online at or at the Emma Kelly Theater Box Office. Call (912) 212-2787 for more details.
