Family dogs maul toddler to death

Area media are reporting that some family dogs mauled a toddler to death in North Bryan County Wednesday evening.

Police were reportedly called at about 6:30 p.m. to an Elm Road residence northeast of Pembroke. A 21-month-old girl had been attacked and killed by seven dogs, Bryan County Sheriff Clyde R. Smith told media outlets.

The dogs, which belonged to the child's family, were pit bulls and pit bull mixes. They have been euthanized.

Authorities have not released the child's identity.
