A Claxton man arrested last week on sex offense charges is now free on bond.
    Randy J. Morgan, 32, Hwy. 129, Claxton, was arrested March 4 on charges of child molestation and rape, according to Evans County Sheriff’s Office reports. He was released on bond March 5, on an $80,000 property bond through Gonzales Bonding.
    An Evans County Sheriff’s spokesperson directed inquiries about the case to the Statesboro Georgia Bureau of Investigation office, which is handling the case. Special Agent Cyrus Purdiman is heading the investigation, said Statesboro GBI Special-Agent-in-Charge Cathy Sapp.
    Since the case is still ongoing, limited details are being released, she said.
    Morgan is accused of improper sexual conduct with a 14-year-old juvenile. Sapp declined to comment on whether the juvenile is male or female.
    The incident occurred in Evans County. Morgan was taken to the Evans County Jail, where he remained until posting bond the next day.
