Local Roundup: Stifling D leads BA boys to title

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Bulloch Academy Gators didn't do a whole lot of scoring throughout the Region 4-IAAA tournament.
    It didn't matter.
The Gators (16-11) held their opponents to an average of 26.5 points per game throughout the three games of the tournament, and beat John Milledge, 34-28 Friday night to claim the crown.
Forrest Spence led the Gators with 16 points.
The story was much the same in the semifinals against Westminster, when BA won, 31-26, over Westminster, a team that beat the Gators twice during the regular season.
In that game, Spence also scored 16 to lead BA.
Bulloch claimed the No. 1 seed in the GISA Class AAA state playoffs, and will host No. 4 seed Mount De Sales on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the first round.
Mount de Sales eliminated the Gators in the semifinals of the 2012 state playoffs in a five-overtime, 80-79 thriller.
