A man who used a senior citizen’s credit card without permission to purchase gold coins online also forged checks, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.
Nathan Reuben Street, 35, of Woodrum Circle, is charged with financial identity fraud, felony theft by deception, and seven counts of fourth-degree forgery, he said.
“Since November, Bulloch County sheriff’s investigators have worked with Wells Fargo Bank in investigating a series of forgeries, with the victim being a 77-year-old male living on Rocky Ford Road,” he said.
Aside from the forgeries, investigators learned Street used the victim’s credit card to “purchase gold coins from an online distributor based in Phoenix, Arizona.”
Examinations of financial records and further investigations led to investigators identifying Street, who is a neighbor of the victim’s, as the offender, the sheriff’s office said.
Street was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
