Woman airlifted after Friday crash

A woman was airlifted Friday afternoon after a vehicle tried to pass the car she was driving as she attempted a left turn.
Dena Clifton, 49, of Old Reidsville Road in Twin City, was heading west on U.S. Highway 80 as she tried to pass two cars in front of her maroon Ford Expedition, also going westbound, Georgia State Patrol Post Commander Sgt. Brad Mosher said.
Clifton passed one vehicle and crashed into the driver’s side of a gold Buick LaCrosse driven by Dorothy Williams, 77, of Lakeside Drive in Twin City, he said.
Clifton and a passenger in Williams’ car, Jean Clark, of Lake Collins Road in Twin  City, suffered minor injuries; Clark showed visible injuries while Clifton complained of wrist pain. Two passengers in Clifton’s car were unharmed, Mosher said.
Williams was taken to a Savannah hospital by Air Evac for a serious cut to the back of the head, Mosher said.
Charges are pending against Clifton, and the accident is still under investigation, Mosher said.
