OTC to offer free GED practice test

Ogeechee Technical College’s Adult Education centers in Bulloch, Evans, and Screven counties will offer adult learners the opportunity to take a GED practice test at no charge on Feb. 14.
All prospective test-takers need to do is visit one of the centers to see how a small investment of their time can open the door to greater opportunities for them and their families, said Burrell.
Staff will be on hand at the centers to explain what is needed to sign up for the GED preparation classes that are always free to every Georgian. Someone from the college will explain that the cost of taking the full set of GED tests should not be a deterrent to anyone because grants and other financial assistance are available.
“We’re actively campaigning to let people throughout our area know that we can help them prepare for the GED test and, with a little effort, they can earn a GED credential.  After that, we’ll assist with their transition from GED diploma to college degree or into a better job,” said Mike Burrell, the dean for adult education at Ogeechee Tech.
“Ogeechee Technical College has many programs which help enrich lives, but one which I think can be the most significant is the Adult Education program,” OTC President Dawn Cartee added. “Getting a GED which allows further education is one of the greatest impacts for improving one’s life.”
The college’s Adult Education centers are: Bulloch County Workforce Development Center, 8 Joseph E. Kennedy Blvd. in Statesboro; the Evans Technical Education Complex, 625 Cedar Ave. in Hagan; and the Screven County Workforce Development Center, 107 S. Community Drive in Sylvania.
