Bulloch County Public Safety/Emergency Management is collecting donations for victims of the Wednesday tornado in Gordon County, Ga.
“There is an effort underway to provide badly needed goods and services to the storm survivors,” Bulloch County Public Safety Director Ted Wynn said. “There is also a demand for nonperishable food, bottled water, blue plastic tarps, roofing materials, baby formula, diapers, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies and paper goods.”
While appreciated, “Donations of used clothing are not needed,” he added.
More than 250 homes in one subdivision in the Gordon County area where the tornado touched down were destroyed, Wynn said. The storm flipped about 100 cars Wednesday on Interstate 75 near Adairsville, in neighboring Bartow County, and the interstate was closed for hours as people were rescued and debris cleared.
One person in that area was killed as the line of violent weather swept across the state.
Donations may be dropped off at the Bulloch County Public Safety/EMA/Central 911 office next to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office on U.S. Highway 301 North.
As soon as a trailer load is collected, Wynn said, the donations will be delivered to northwest Georgia.

Holli Deal Bragg may be reached at (912) 489-9414.
