Two Brooklet men have been arrested in connection with two metal theft incidents, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
It started on Jan. 25, when deputies were called to RC Machine and Tool on
Mill Creek Road to investigate a metal theft.
Deputy Devon Deloach developed information linking Roy Ashton Wilson to the crime and issued arrest warrants for him, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said, and alerts were issued to the public through local news outlets and social media.
On Monday, deputies responded to another section of Mill Creek Road for the theft of a trailer and several pieces of farm equipment.
Wilson, 27, of Troy Street in Brooklet, turned himself in to deputies Wednesday and was interviewed concerning the Jan. 25 incident. He admitted to the theft from RC Machine and Tool and to the Monday trailer and equipment theft, Anderson said.
Wilson was charged with felony theft by taking, misdemeanor theft by taking and a probation violation.
Deputies and investigators began recovering stolen property from various locations throughout the county.
The trailer was located at a home in the 4000 block of Old River Road South, where it had already been repainted.             The individual in possession of the trailer, Jimmie Joe Bath Jr., 53, of the residence, was arrested and charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, Anderson said.
Investigation continues into other crimes for which Wilson might be responsible, the sheriff said.
Anderson commended Deloach and Cpl. Rey Rodriguez for their work on these cases.
