Metter's Jackson signs with East Georgia

Metter's Anna Jackson signs a letter of intent Friday to play softball at East Georgia State College.

East Georgia added to its wealth of local talent with the signing of Metter’s Anna Jackson.

In addition to bolstering the Lady Tigers’ batting order during her time at Metter, Jackson was also a great third baseman before moving behind the plate last fall when her team needed a catcher.

“We knew that we could depend on Anna to do whatever she needed to do to help the team,” said Metter coach Vicki Bowen, who has known and coached Jackson since her youth teams. “She hadn’t played catcher since middle school, but she hopped behind the plate and did a great job calling games.”

Jackson’s versatility will continue to serve her well as she makes the leap to the collegiate level.

“There are a few spots where we can see Anna fitting in with us,” said East Georgia coach Megen Smith. “We know that she can play corner spots in the infield. The biggest thing is that she’s excited to be coming here and ready to help us in whatever way she can.”
