Sharks to hold swim meet Thursday

Splash in the Boro will hold its monthly Sharks Blue and White Meet on Thursday.
Sharks is the name of a USA Swimming year-round short- and long-course competitive swim team that offers quality coaching and technique instructions for ages 6-18. Anyone who would like to try out for the Sharks can do so any day before practice.
In the Blue and White Meet, the Sharks team is separated into two groups with the swimmers being placed into their appropriate individual or relay events. The event is held during normal weekday practice times to encourage each swim team member to participate. It allows new participants to get the feel of a real meet while giving all swim team members the ability to enhance their event times for the next away meet they attend.
Parent volunteers and coaches function as timers for the event. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The swim team members would love to have outside spectators come cheer them on, said Steve Brown, the aquatics division manager for Splash.
