The Hampton Inn Statesboro is close to completion, and plans are for the hotel to open in March or April. The 90-room hotel is located at 350 Brampton Avenue in the Market District on Fair Road.
      Alex Crumpton was named general manager of the property, and will direct all areas of the hotel's operations, including guest  services, sales and marketing efforts, and hotel administration.
      "Based on Crumpton's outstanding record in hotel management, we are confident that he will be instrumental in ensuring the success of the Hampton Inn Statesboro," said Stacey Senters, regional director of operations for the BPR-Properties, LLC, owner of the new hotel.
      BPR-Properties is a North Carolina-based hotel development firm. The Hampton Inn Statesboro is one of three properties the firm is bringing on line in the first six months of this year. The other two are located in North Carolina.
      "We are a growing company, and are very excited about the new Statesboro property," Crumpton said. "There are additional plans for more hotels to be built in the future."
      According to Crumpton, hotel amenities will include a multi-purpose meeting room, 24-hour business center, 24-hour Suite Shop, guest laundry facility, on-site fitness center, and an outdoor pool. A free continental breakfast will be available each morning.
      "Also, guestrooms will be wired and have wireless high speed internet access, a 32-inch HDTV, microwave and mini-refrigerator," he said. "We will offer rooms that will be equipped for our hearing accessible guests and our mobility accessible guests."
      BPR-Properties plans to staff the hotel with 20 employees.
      "The Georgia Department of Labor is going to help us with the hiring process," he said. "People that are interested can go the Labor Department's website, and fill out an application through there, or fill one out at the Labor Department's office in Statesboro. They are going to screen applicants for us, and help us through the hiring process. This will start in February."
      Prior to joining Hampton Inn Statesboro, Crumpton was the general manager of the Hampton Inn in Vidalia. Before that, he was the assistant general manager of the Days Inn (formerly Hampton Inn) in Statesboro. He is a graduate of Ogeechee Tech with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant and Tourism Management, and also serves as a board member of the Ogeechee Technical College Hotel/Restaurant and Tourism Program Advisory Committee.
