    HINESVILLE — The Statesboro Blue Devils continued to roll Saturday, taking an 80-53, non-region win on the road at Bradwell Institute.
    The Blue Devils (20-3) were paced by Zaquavian Smith, who scored 23 points.
    Yakeem Coleman added 16, Johnathan Taylor added 13 and O'Aron Ware added 10.
    Statesboro returns to region play Friday on the road at Ware County at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Panthers stun No. 6 WCHS
    PORTAL — No. 6-ranked Wilkinson County came into Portal with only two losses, but left with three as the Lady Panthers held off the Lady Warriors, 43-37 Saturday in non-region action.
    The game was tied, 26-26, after three quarters, but a late surge sealed the deal for Portal (9-9).
    Breyonna Raymond led the Panthers with 14 points and Shiann Hagins added nine.
   
Panthers fall to top-ranked Warriors
    PORTAL — Top-ranked Wilkinson County knocked off the Portal Panthers (14-5), 78-41 on Saturday.
    Guard Stacy Morgan left the game with a twisted ankle in the first quarter.
    Corey Reese and Robert Lee were the Panthers' top scorers with 13 points each.
    Portal faces Savannah Christian Tuesday on the road. The girls play at 6 p.m. and the boys game will follow.

Lady Blue Devils stumble at Bradwell
    HINESVILLE — The Statesboro Lady Blue Devils (15-7) fell in a dedfensive battle, 36-33, Saturday at Bradwell Institute.
    The Devils return to region action on the road Friday at Wayne County.

GSU spring football game date set
    Georgia Southern will play its annual Blue-White spring football game Saturday, April 13. EFAA will also hold a $10,000 reverse raffle and auction that evening at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by calling the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation at 912-478-5520 or by contacting any EFAA member.
    The spring game is open to the public, and seating is free.

GSU tennis tops Mercer
    MACON — The Georgia Southern Men’s Tennis (1-0) team beat Mercer (0-2) 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon, Ga. After clinching the doubles and the first singles points, the Eagles lost three matches straight before senior Mattijs Verdam and redshirt freshman Carson Jones clinched the match.

UNF out-swims Georgia Southern
    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a Saturday afternoon clash at the University of North Florida (7-2), The Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team (6-3) just came up short as they lost 142-101. The Eagles were able to win five out of the 13 events.

SBCPRD youth basketball scores
    This week in the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department the Tiny Minor Girls League held two games.
    The Thunder beat the Lakers with a score of 26-10 and the Warriors won against the Knicks with a score of 38-24.
    In the Jr. Boys league, the 76ers defeated the Spurs 44-21.
    In the Tiny Minor Boys league, the Thunder beat the Knicks 46-32 and the Warriors beat the Lakers 42-28.
    In the Minor Boys League the Lakers beat the Warriors 30-22, the Nets beat the Bulls 32-16 and the Magic defeated the Knicks 22-21. The Spurs defeated the Heat 20-9, the Thunder beat the Pacers 29-18 and the 76ers beat the Rockets 23-15.

SEB accepting HoF nominations
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will be accepting Hall of Fame nomination forms until Feb. 15.
    Nomination forms can be downloaded from the school’s website at http://sbhs.bulloch.k12.ga.us or picked up from offices at Southeast High School and Middle school.
