Man jailed after pistol whipping

Rodney Lamond Dixon

A man pistol-whipped another Saturday night during an argument over a woman, fled but later turned himself in to authorities, police said.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Rodney Lamond Dixon, 42, of Harvest Drive in Springfield, was not at the scene Saturday when deputies arrived at the Trevor Lane residence around 11:45 p.m.
Deputies did find a 35-year-old man who needed medical attention after being beaten with a pistol, he said. The victim was “treated by (Bulloch County) EMS for non life-threatening injuries” at the scene, Anderson said.
Deputies spoke with the victim and witnesses, who said the attack “stemmed from a dispute over a female friend,” Anderson said.
Dixon turned himself in at the Bulloch County Jail later that night, the sheriff said.
Dixon faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and affray (fighting). He was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he later posted a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
