Local Roundup: Portal stomps Johnson County


    PORTAL — The Portal Panthers (5-1) responded to their first loss of the season with an 84-43 win Tuesday at home against Johnson County.
    Stacy Morgan was on fire, leading all scorers with 31 points. Robert Lee added 20.
    Tyler Budgett found double figures with 10 points.
    Portal returns to action after Christmas when it hosts the Portal Holiday Classic. The Panthers face Southeast Bulloch at 8:30 p.m., on Dec. 27.
    The girls host Metter at 4 p.m., the same day.

Tattnall takes down Jackets
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets (3-3) stumbled Tuesday, falling to cross-region rival Tattnall County, 70-41, at home.
    Matthew McBride (11 points), Kaelin Jones (10) and Devante Tremble (9) led the way for SEB.

Lady Panthers win big
    PORTAL — The Portal Lady Panthers (4-2) knocked off visiting Johnson County, 48-35, Tuesday at home.
    Breyonna Raymond led PHS with 12 points, and Shianne Hagins continued her scoring ways with 10.
    Johnson County's Drikeria Wright led all scporers with 19 points.

Claxton spreads it around in win
    CLAXTON — Cornelius Taylor (16 points), Jaki Tompkins (14), Monterius Valentine (12), Trey Hines (11) and Darvis Small (10) all reached double figures as Claxton (7-3) beat Bryan County, 76-31, on Tuesday.

Lady Tigers win 4th straight
    CLAXTON — The Claxton Lady Tigers out-paced Bryan County, 56-30, Tuesday at home.
    Jazmine Price scored a team-high 19 points and added eight steals, and Taylor Fiveash scored 13.
    Claxton hosts Metter Friday at 6 p.m.
