Hoke Reeves appointed to OTC Executive Board

Sylvania banker to help fundraising in Screven County

Dr. Dawn Cartee, president of Ogeechee Technical College, has announced that the Executive Board of the Ogeechee Tech Foundation, Inc. has appointed Hoke S. Reeves to the office of secretary of the foundation effective July 1.
Reeves has joined the Foundation Board Executive Committee following many years of service to Ogeechee Technical College as a fundraising volunteer and Foundation Board trustee.
In announcing Reeves’ appointment, Dr. Cartee said: "We are privileged to have someone of Hoke Reeves’ caliber working to support our college through the Foundation. He has demonstrated his desire to work for the betterment of Ogeechee Tech through his past service, and I know that he will continue to provide invaluable assistance in this new position. "
In a statement about his appointment, Reeves said: “My past service as a fundraising volunteer and as a board member trustee have afforded me the opportunity to see the positive impact Ogeechee Tech has on the lives of the students and also the communities which it serves. I look forward to working with the leadership of OTC and other board members in continuing to help provide appropriate resources that will support Ogeechee Technical College in carrying out its mission of excellence in workforce education. OTC has a statewide reputation as a leader in technical education and the success of the recent fundraising campaign is further evidence of great things going on at Ogeechee Tech.”
Beth Mathews, executive director of Institutional Advancement at OTC, said she was excited about Reeves joining the foundation as an officer.
“With Hoke’s recent move to Screven County he represents a strong resource for us in that part of our service area.," she said. "We are very happy to have someone so familiar with Ogeechee Tech working to promote the college in the Sylvania and Screven County area. It will certainly be beneficial to OTC and Screven County.”
Reeves, who is a native of Jenkins County, is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance, economics, and management. With more than 19 years of banking experience to his credit, he recently accepted the position of Executive Vice President at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Sylvania, after most recently serving as Market President at Park Avenue Bank in Statesboro.  In addition to past volunteer work with OTC, Reeves has an active history of community service with a number of other organizations. He and his wife Lynn have two children, Mary Margaret, 12, and Smith, 11.
