Police: Man steals, wears Christmas wreath

Officers collared a shirtless man wearing a Christmas wreath — which he had put around his neck after stealing it — about four hours after he was first spotted with the holiday accessory, police said.
Derrion Cortez Barlow, 22, of Lanier Drive, was charged with entering auto and theft.
A witness reported seeing the shirtless, wreathed man near Cambridge at Southern apartments around 3:18 a.m. Sunday, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.
Police incident reports state the victim of the burglary listed the Christmas wreath, $2 in rolled pennies, a framed Georgia flag license plate and a can of Busch Light beer as items stolen.
Officers located Barlow at University Pines and tried to stop him for questioning, but he fled and locked himself in an apartment, Turner said.
Officers obtained a search warrant, found the stolen items in the apartment, and arrested Barlow on charges of entering auto, theft by taking and obstruction at 7:31 a.m., police said.
He was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he later posted bond.
