Local Roundup: Lady Tigers double up MCHS


    CLAXTON — The Claxton Lady Tigers (1-2) notched their first win of the season Tuesday with a 60-30 romp over visiting Montgomery County.
    Jasmine Price led all scorers with 15 points, and Devonna Brewton added 12.
    Shatasha Williams dominated the boards with 10 rebounds.
    Montgomery was led in scoring by JaBarriyah Stoles, who scored 10 points.

BA stays perfect
    AUGUSTA — The Bulloch Academy Lady Gators (6-0) got another win Tuesday, taking down Curtis Baptist, 70-49, on the road.
    Anna Newton was on fire offensively, paving the way with 24 points. Ashley Burke added 12 and Pate Lomaz scored 9.
    The Gators look for their seventh-straight win Thursday in Stillmore against David Emanuel Academy.
   
Claxton downs pesky Eagles
    CLAXTON — The Claxton boys never trailed, but Montgomery County never went away as the Tigers held on for a 47-43 win Tuesday night at home.
    Cornelious Taylor scored 18 points and Darvis Small added 10.
    Tattnall County boys and girls visit Claxton Friday.

South Effingham sweeps Metter
    GUYTON — Metter opened its season with a pair of losses Tuesday at South Effingham.
    The boys lost a close one, 50-46, and the girls fell 64-34.
    The boys were led in scoring by 16 Justin Parrish points.
    Diamond Mercer led the Lady Tigers with 11 points, and South Effingham's Tianna Germain scored 25.
