The rash of home invasions in Statesboro — particularly near Georgia Southern University’s campus — continued with another reported Monday.
    In fact, a total of 19 armed robberies and home invasions have been reported in the city since September.
    Statesboro police reported the latest incident in a Nixle alert sent out shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
    According to the alert, the incident took place in Stadium Walk, an apartment complex located directly across Lanier Drive from Paulson Stadium. The suspects were described only as two black males, 6-feet tall in a green four-door car and possibly armed.
    No further information was immediately available.
    Last week, police responded to the report of a home invasion at The Grove apartments, a residential and commercial neighborhood on Brampton Avenue, not far from the Georgia Southern campus.
    In that incident, reported to have happened around 7:40 p.m. Nov. 18, five black males, with their faces covered and guns, forced their way into an apartment. They physically accosted a male victim inside the residence, striking him in the face before taking a wallet, debit card, driver’s license, casino card and cellphone.
    The males fled after taking the man’s property. After a woman in the apartment called police, Bulloch County EMS responded, but the victim declined treatment, police said. But the victim later went to East Georgia Regional Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment of facial injuries.
    A similar incident took place earlier this month at University Pines apartments, which is a short distance down Lanier Drive from Stadium Walk.
    In that one, two men with guns entered an apartment and held up four people, brandishing weapons, forcing one man to the floor and binding him with tape before taking $15, three cellphones, a laptop computer, a PlayStation 3 and a pair of shoes, police said.
    And yet another home invasion a few days before that one was reported at Eagle Villas, which is next to Stadium Walk. But Georgia Southern University Police Chief Mike Russell said that was not related to the University Pines incident and instead was connected to a previous fight elsewhere.
    After The Grove invasion last week, Statesboro police Maj. Scott Brunson said investigators were trying to determine whether that and the University Pines incidents were linked.
