The trial of Kendall Worthy, charged in the Oct. 2006 murder of Corey O'Neil Walker, will not take place today as scheduled because Worthy has pled guilty, said Ogeechee Circuit Assistant District Attorney Daphne Jarriel.
Additional details of Worthy's plea will be published Thursday.
Worthy, 20, Waycross, along with Frederico Mikell, 30, Grady Street Extension, Statesboro; Marcus Maurice Benbow, 39, Waycross,, and Bryan Lazarus Hughley, 35, Waycross, were all charged in the Oct. 14, 2006 shooting on Orange Street where Walker was killed and two others were wounded. Police have said the shooting is likely drug-related. Jarriel said jury selection for the trial of the remaining suspect is slated for August.
