Police investigators are seeking information on a home invasion armed robbery that occurred Friday night at University Pines apartment complex.
Two men with guns forced their way into an apartment around 9:17 p.m., holding up four people – two men and two women, according to police reports.
The unknown men brandished weapons and forced one victim to the floor, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.
The invaders bound the victim with tape, then went into the bedrooms. It is unclear why only one victim was bound.
The gunmen then took $15, three cellphones, a laptop computer, a Sony PlayStation 3 and a pair of shoes before fleeing the scene.
After one of the female victims contacted police, officers arrived and then turned the investigation over to Statesboro police Detective Tommy Brown.
“The incident is currently under active investigation and no further details are being released,” Turner said.
Police incident reports listed no injuries.
Georgia Southern University police assisted the Statesboro Police Department in the investigation. GSU Police Chief Mike Russell said other home invasion type incidents occurring over the same time period were not related to the University Pines incident.
On Saturday night, University Police responded to a location near Eagle Villas for a reported fight involving several people. On Sunday, five men, including one from Atlanta, forced their way into an apartment in search of a subject who had been involved in the Saturday night fight, he said.
The invaders in that case were unarmed, and physically accosted three victims, Russell said.
The victims suffered minor injuries. One of the several suspects has been identified, but no arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation.
