GSU to introduce new athletic director

Announcement scheduled for 6 p.m. today

Georgia Southern University President Brooks Keel will introduce the new athletic director during a press conference at 6 p.m. today, the university announced this morning.

The announcement will take place in the ballroom of the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on campus.

The university hired the Atlanta-based Parker Executive Search firm as a consultant in August, just a few weeks after current athletic director Sam Baker, who has held the position for 17 years, said in July that he would resign after a new athletic director was found.
A 10-person selection committee made up of Georgia Southern faculty and staff, the Statesboro community, GSU alumni and a current student-athlete also was part of the search process.
