Two men robbed two people at gunpoint in front of their home Wednesday night, and the victims chased the suspects until their two vehicles crashed, police said.
At 11:57 p.m., the Statesboro Police Department, Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol responded to a vehicle crash on Country Club Road.
The victims told police that when they arrived at their home on South College Street, two men with firearms approached. The men aimed the weapons at the victims' heads and demanded their money. Once the suspects got the money, they got into a vehicle that was waiting nearby and left southbound on South College Street, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a news release.
The victims chased the suspects to Country Club Road, where the two vehicles crashed, and the suspects fled on foot. Police officers, deputies and state troopers, along with the Georgia State Prison K-9 Unit, searched the area and found Michael Marcellus Pinkston, 40, of Maple Avenue in Swainsboro, Turner said.
Pinkston was charged with armed robbery and taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he is being held pending further court action.
