Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies are investigating two convenience store armed robberies that took place about 17 hours apart. The first occurred Friday night around 11:30 p.m., and the second took place around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said three armed men burst into the Mighty Mike's Hot Stop at the intersection of Ga. 67 and Ga. 46 Friday night while the clerk was mopping the floor. One man held a shotgun, while the other two wielded pistols, he said.
The three demanded cash, and the victim " gave them the small amount of cash he had on hand and some lottery tickets," he said. "The robbery was interrupted by a customer coming to the door. One of the suspects threatened the customer, who promptly got back into his car and drove off."
The clerk was not harmed, he said.
The second robbery took place Saturday afternoon at the Mighty Mike's Hot Stop on U.S. 301 South at Gateway Industrial Park, according to Bulloch County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Gene McDaniel.
Details of the second armed robbery were unavailable at Herald press time.   An unidentified store employee answered the phone at the store Saturday evening, but would not comment on the robbery, and said investigators were there at the time gathering evidence and witness statements.
McDaniel said he did not have any additional details at the time, and could not confirm whether the robberies were related.
Investigators hope citizens can provide information regarding the suspects in the Friday night armed robbery, Anderson said.
One man was described as a black male in his early 20's, standing 5'6", weighing around 160-170 pounds, wearing a blue tee shirt and jeans. His face was covered and he was carrying a shotgun.
The second suspect is described as a black male, late teens to early 20's, standing 5'4" and weighing around 140 pounds, Anderson said. He had a "light complexion, short black hair, was wearing a blue tee shirt and jeans, armed with a pistol."
The third suspect was also a black male, late teens to early 20's, standing 5'5", weighing around 150 pounds, he said. He was of "medium complexion, short black hair, wearing a black tee shirt and black jeans, armed with a pistol."
Anyone with information about either robbery or the suspects is asked to contact Bulloch County Sheriff's Investigator Jason Long at 764-1747 or 764-8888, he said.
Additional information regarding the second armed robbery will be available Monday.
