Thomson-Ginn

    Caitlin Bachler Thomson and Benjamin Hunter Ginn were united in marriage on Saturday, June 2, 2006, at 6 o’clock at the First United Methodist Church of Statesboro. The Reverends Joan Kilian and Dr. H. William Perry officiated.
    Mollie Nichols, aunt of the bride, was organist.
    A reception followed in the Southern Ballroom at Georgia Southern University. The Spike at the Beach Band from St. Simons Island provided entertainment during the reception.
    The bride is the daughter of Drs. Susan and Douglass Thomson of Statesboro. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jere Ginn, also of Statesboro.
    Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of silk, satin-faced organza with a bodice and chapel train of appliqued Alencon lace. Matching Alencon lace bordered a long ivory sheer illusion veil. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of cream roses and white stephanotis.
    Claire Brenneman of Charlotte, N.C., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids included the bride’s cousin, Elisabeth Thomson of Huntington, N.Y., Heather Barnes and Rachel Egger of Statesboro, Katheryn Beshears of Cornelius, N.C., Jen Churchill of Franklin, Tenn., Jessica Gaspierik of Fayetteville, Ga., Lauren Harris of Jacksonville, Fla., Martha Morgan of Charlotte, N.C., and Britné Stubbs of Bennettsville, S.C.
    The bridesmaids wore tea-length gowns of clover green silk dupioni with matching silk sashes. They carried hand-tied bouquets of green hydrangea, white open roses and lavender freesia.
    The flower girls were Allison and Lindsey Ward of Charlotte, N.C.
    Lisa Hedgepath of Marietta, Ga., was the bridal book attendant.
    Jere Ginn served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen included Tim Hammond, Nathan Sapp and Stephen Wilhelm of Statesboro, David O’Donnell of Savannah, Andy Rakestraw of Cambridge, Mass., Chris Rushing and Donnie Smith of Atlanta, Ben Simpkins of Kettering, Ohio, and Jeff Wagner of Stuart, Va.
    An engagement celebration was given at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Don Connell and jointly hosted by Katie Burr, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Chester, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Evans, Katie Fries, Mr. and Mrs. Landrum Hodges, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Johnson, Dr. and Mrs. Dale Madson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Paulk, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Prince and RaDonna Sapp.
    Bridal showers were held locally as well as in Charlotte, N.C., and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
    On the eve of the wedding, the bridesmaids were honored during a luncheon at the Blue Moon Cafe given by Deborah Kruk.
    The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Statesboro Inn where Stephen Oates Smith, uncle of the bride, entertained guests on acoustic guitar.
    Jean Ann Marsh, Lisa Morris, Joanne Newland, Sandy Rakestraw, Debra Smith and Charlotte Wilhelm gave a low country boil luncheon for the groomsmen on the day of the wedding at the Rakestraw residence.
    Following a honeymoon on Amelia Island, the couple will reside in Savannah.
