Savannah man charged in Vaden Nissan auto thefts

Detectives have issued warrants for a Savannah man’s arrest in connection to the Oct. 2 auto thefts from Vaden Nissan in Statesboro.
Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said warrants were issued for Brandon Maurice Williams, of Savannah, on charges of burglary, theft by taking motor vehicle, entering auto and criminal damage to property.
Williams already is in custody in Savannah on charges by Chatham County law enforcement which are unrelated to the Statesboro automobile theft case, Turner said.
Five cars were stolen from Vaden Nissan on South Main Street in the early  morning hours of Oct. 2, said Bill Long, the dealership’s general manager. He said someone “cut a hole in a garage door” and removed keys from a secured area, then drove off with five cars that were in the service area to be checked before being placed on the sales lot.
According to Statesboro police incident reports, Bloomingdale police contacted Statesboro police around 1:30 a.m. Oct. 2 after recovering two of the stolen cars in Bloomingdale.
Police reports listed Williams as a driver of one of the recovered cars.
