I think the saying - "It's a dog's world" - may be taking on added meaning with the opening of the South Paws Dog Resort on Northside Drive. From special doggie ice cream at night, to playing during the day, pet owners can now take their dogs for doggie day care, while their pet parents are working.
"There are a lot of people that bring their dogs to us during the day while they are working," said South Paws manager Tina Williams. "They want them to get attention, to be played with, and cared for while they are at work. The dogs just love it."
Williams said in addition to doggie day care, they also board.
"We provide boarding, and those dogs interact with those that are just staying during the day," she said. "In addition, we offer evening classes in basic obedience and agility, in-kennel training, grooming, a self-serve dog wash, and a webcam."
Williams said the webcam allows owners to log in and watch their pets during the day.
"If the owner has a smart phone, then they can access the webcams," she said. "They are located in the huge, climate controlled playroom and in the kennels."
Williams said a number of people have asked about the sign out front advertising doggie ice cream for those dogs that are boarding.
"At night, each dog receives ice cream in the form of a frozen ice cube," she said. "It is comprised of low fat vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, honey, and banana. It is all blended together, and then frozen. They really, really love it."
In a good way, this is a testament as to how important our pets have become to us. I can't wait to see what is next. Of course, they are on Facebook.
So, until next Tuesday, I bid you au revoir.
