KBB unveils new plan to get businesses involved in recycling

Text Size: Small Large Medium
Keep Bulloch Beautiful unveiled its latest effort to encourage recycling last week aimed at encouraging people to reduce their waste in the office.
The organization is offering recycling sets for businesses that includes two central containers, one for paper and one for beverage containers, four small containers and a guide for recycling at work.
"The goal of this program is to help local businesses get in the habit of recycling at work," said Brooke Carney, director of Keep Bulloch Beautiful. "One of Keep Bulloch Beautiful's priorities is to reduce waste and getting people in the habit of recycling is a balance between convincing them recycling is the responsible thing to do and making it convenient."
The sets are only $20 as a result of a supplemental grant from the local chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
"We hope providing the containers and helping start office recycling programs will make it easier to recycle at work."
The program started last week and there are already 10 businesses signed up to participate. Carney said she hopes to have all the sets distributed by the end of the summer.
"We are constantly trying to to think of ways to make recycling easier for people in Bulloch County," Carney said. "We've seen an increase in the use of our 16 drop-off recycling centers and the numbers are encouraging."
