The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office is searching for three people deputies say used a baby as a distraction and stole a large amount of merchandise from Agri Supply.
Two men, one carrying a baby, and a woman entered the store at 1122 Coley Boyd Road, off U.S. Highway 301 South, about 2 p.m. Monday, sheriff's Investigator Jared Akins said Wednesday morning.
Akins said the group "essentially used the baby to divert attention away from their activities."
"The group was able to steal a felony amount of merchandise from the store" before leaving in a Toyota Camry, Akins said.
Under Georgia law, shoplifting becomes a felony offense when the value of the merchandise stolen is greater than $500.
Anyone with information on the identity of these individuals is asked to call Akins at (912) 764-1789 or email tips@bullochsheriff.com.
