Three storm systems barreled through the Bulloch County area before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, downing several trees and power lines, but no injuries were reported.
Bulloch County public safety workers, county inmates and law enforcement worked for hours clearing trees from roadways, guarding the sites where power lines fell until power companies could arrive, and monitored the areas for safety, according to emergency radio broadcasts.
Power lines knocked down by falling trees on Old Happy Road, Rocker Lane, Old Happy Lane, Georgia Highway 46 (near Simmons Pond) and Harris Lane resulted in power outages. A storm earlier in the day, around 5 p.m., resulted in power outages in Emanuel and Jenkins counties.
Power was also out in the Nevils, Pembroke and Register areas after a 6 p.m. storm rolled through. A vehicle ran over downed power lines on Highway 46, and the lines became wrapped around its axle, according to reports.
Exact numbers of power outages were not immediately available.
