Thomas-Murphy

    Lindsey Ann Thomas and Timothy Daniel Murphy were united in marriage on Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, N.C.. The Rev. Dr. John Wesley Bressler of Statesboro performed the 6:30 p.m. double ring ceremony in the courtyard of the Inn.
    The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Leo G. Parrish Jr. of Statesboro and Drs. Charles S. and Rebecca S. Thomas III of Winston-Salem, N.C. She is the granddaughter of Mary P. McCowan of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Thomas of Dalton, Ga. A 2000 graduate of Statesboro High School in Statesboro, and a 2004 graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., the bride is beginning her fourth year of medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
    The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Daniel F. Murphy of Greensboro, N.C. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Fish of Greensboro, N.C., and Margaret L. Murphy and the late Robert B. Murphy of Charlotte, N.C. A 2000 graduate of Greensboro Day School in Greensboro, N.C., and a 2004 graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., the groom is beginning his fourth year of medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
    Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Lindsey wore a strapless ivory gown with hand-pleated detail in candlelight duchess satin at the empire waist and hemline. Alencon lace accented the bodice and skirt as well as the chapel-length train. The ivory veil was also edged with Alencon lace and extended beyond the train. She carried a bouquet of white and cream peonies, accented with touches of blush pink and hand-tied with satin ivory ribbons.
    The matron of honor was Beth Turney of Salt Lake City, Utah. Bridesmaids were Lauren Thomas of Statesboro, sister of the bride; Dana Murphy of Greensboro, N.C., sister of the groom; Staci Beamer of Chapel Hill, N.C., Krista Egger of Raleigh, N.C., Alison Keenan of Durham, N.C., Shannon Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Amber Williams of Washington, D.C.
    Wearing floor-length V-neck gowns in black chiffon with crepe black satin trim at the dropped waist, the bridesmaids carried white and blush peonies accented with maiden hair fern and hand-tied with ivory satin ribbons.
    The flower girls were Adele Thomas of Winston-Salem, N.C., sister of the bride; Cassi and Kelli Cleveland of Augusta, cousins of the bride; and Haley Parrish of Statesboro, niece of the bride. They wore ivory satin dresses with pleated blush pink satin bows tied in the back. The ankle-length skirts were overlaid with organza and scattered with pink rosebuds. Wreaths of white roses with trailing satin ribbons adorned their hair and they carried blush rose petals in moss baskets rimmed with white roses.
    Tim chose his father, Dr. Daniel F. Murphy, as his best man. Groomsmen were Marc Babaoff of Durham, N.C., Travis Hicks of Chapel Hill, N.C., John Koerner of Hoboken, N.J., Jon Lavender and Scott Murtaugh, both of Charlotte, N.C., Eric Lonning of Virginia Beach, Va., and Daniel McNeill Jr. of Atlanta.
    Music was provided by the Stalberg String Quartet of Raleigh, N.C. A wedding choir, directed by Pamela Radford, of Statesboro, and composed of the bride and groom’s family and friends, sang the invocation. The Reverend Dr. John Bressler of Statesboro and Katie Combs of Asheville, N.C., cousin of the bride, were soloists with the choir. Bagpipes, played by Dr. John Bressler, preceded the wedding party’s processional during the ceremony and the entrance of the bride and groom into the reception ball room.
    The program attendants were Katie Holtzclaw of Tucker, Ga., cousin of the bride; and Abigail and Emily Kiradjieff of Charlotte, N.C., cousins of the groom. Nieces of the bride, Emma and Hadley Parrish-Cotton of Jacksonville, Fla., served as bubbles attendants for the departure of the bride and groom.
    The guest book was attended by Jamie Howell of Knoxville, Tenn., cousin of the bride.
    Lindsey and Tim were honored with a reception in the Old Well Room at the Carolina Inn following the ceremony, and were entertained by The Backfence Band of Raleigh, N.C. Greeters for the reception were Dr. and Mrs. Steve Chester of Statesboro.
    On the eve of the wedding, the couple was honored with a rehearsal dinner given by the groom’s parents at Fearrington Village in Pittsboro, N.C.
    Following a honeymoon to San Francisco and the Napa Valley, the couple will make their home in Chapel Hill.
