    Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lota of Statesboro announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Alison Elizabeth Lota, to Jonathan Steve Tanner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Tanner of Chula.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Cameron of Savannah, Henryk Lota of Statesboro and the late Stana Lota. She is a 2003 honor graduate of Statesboro High School and is a 2007 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she received a bachelor of science in physics with minors in music and Spanish. She was a four-year member of the Georgia Southern University Lady Eagles Swim Team. She plans to continue with her studies in science and work toward a master of arts in teaching at Georgia Southern University. She is currently employed as a swim coach for the Statesboro-Bulloch County Sharks.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Myrtice Carter of Sycamore and the late Garland Carter, Edna Tanner of Epworth and Carl Tanner of McCaysville. He is a 2000 honor graduate and class salutatorian of Tiftarea Academy and is a 2004 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. Additionally, he received a bachelor of science in physics in 2005 and a master of science in mathematics in 2007, both from Georgia Southern University. He is currently employed as an engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
    The couple plans to wed on June 16th in Savannah.
