SYLVANIA - A dispute between two brothers turned fatal Thursday in Screven County, after one man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
At about 7:30 p.m., Screven County Sheriff's Office patrol deputies responded to Greenwood Baptist Church on Old River Road in reference to 911 calls of a man who had been shot, said Lt. Brett Dickerson.
Charles Kittles, 61, of Sylvania, was found having sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, said Dickerson.
Kittles was transported to an Augusta hospital where he later died.
The cause of death will be unavailable until an autopsy is complete, said Dickerson.
Horace Kittles, 63, the brother of Charles Kittles, was arrested and charged with murder following an investigation that included interviews with witnesses at the church, he said.
Kittles is being held without bond until a court appearance can be made.
The cause of the shooting is still under investigation, said Dickerson, but appears to have stemmed from a long-standing dispute between the two men.
