Reader suggests cure for itching ears

DEAR DR. GOTT: I am writing in response to the person who had a frustrating itch deep inside the ear. Since I am very familiar with ear problems, I wanted to share my experience. I have had many appointments, first with my personal physician and then with three different ENT specialists over a period of about seven years. It was always the same treatment of drops and antibiotics. Relief would come for a short time, and then the itching would start again, over and over.
Finally, I decided to try another ENT, and immediately he diagnosed my problem. His first comment was, "You have a skin problem, and you have damaged your skin by scratching in the canal and around the outer edge of your ears." He knew immediately that I had tried to relieve the pain by using Q-tips and my fingers trying to get down deep into my ears. He said the skin in my ears was infected, and he prescribed drops (Acetic Acid 2 percent Otic Solution USP,) mometasone auroate 0.1 percent, and cream to be applied to the rash and in the canals at bedtime. Since following these instructions for about three days, I have been free of all ear itches. After about three weeks, I apply the cream every other night, and I have no need for the drops at all.
This was the greatest blessing that I have ever had in my life. I fee like a new person now that I have no pain and no itch.
DEAR READER: I'm glad to learn of your success. Thanks for writing.
To give you related information, I am sending you a copy of my Health Report "Ear Infections and Disorders."

DEAR DR. GOTT: I read the letter from the lady with chronic constipation. I am 64 and have had this problem all my life. When I was 62, my doctor asked if I had any problems, and I told him about the number of laxatives I took daily. He immediately told me he wanted me to try GlycoLax. My life is so much better now. It also comes in generic form. Try taking 17 grams in 4 to 8 ounces of water or any liquid. After two to four days, you will go daily.
DEAR READER: I am not sure whether GlycoLax is superior to less expensive remedies, such as dried fruit, flax seed, bran, hot prune juice and others, so I can't comment on its use. But if it works for you, great. I'm publishing your letter as information for my readers.
