The Statesboro boys soccer team has had an inexplicable time scoring goals this season. So as regular season’s around the area end and region tournaments begins, leave it up to Statesboro’s Thomas Eisenhart to spark the Blue Devils’ offense.
Eisenhart scored three minutes into Statesboro’s March 29 match with Benedictine helping the Devils play to a 2-2 draw. The senior then scored eight minutes into Statesboro’s regon contest with Wayne County on Thursday to help the Devils to a 2-1 win in Jesup.
The striker was at it again on Tuesday, netting his seventh goal 20 minutes into action at No. 2 ranked Greenbrier in Augusta.
The Georgia Southern-signee Eisenhart leads the Blue Devils in goals this season and has a knack for getting into open space to plant the ball in the back of the net. As a captain for SHS, head coach Chad Prosser praised Eisenhart for his willingness to play anywhere on the field.
Eisenhart and the Blue Devils will begin Region 3-AAAA tournament play on Friday.

Brown a catalyst for SCHS

The Screven County girls soccer team finished its best season in school history with 12 wins in 2007. Helping them along the way has been senior Randi Brown who scored a school record 18 goals this season.
Brown, a midfielder, now has a career goal total of 25 goals — again a school record.
“I told her, ‘If you don’t shoot, you can’t score’”, said SCHS head coach Terry Markovcic. “She’s really controlled the middle for us in year’s past but she’s finally become a scorer this year. She’s played a key role in our success.”
All the hard work has paid off for Brown, as the senior will continue her career at Brewton-Parker next season.
Markovcic said Brown is one of two girls who have been with him over the past four years, and her play has been instrumental the program’s success.
“She has a great attitude, always plays hard and has become a team player which has really helped us improve each year,” Markovcic added.
